The United Way of Rockbridge (UWR) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Jennifer (Jen) Dent has been selected as our new Executive Director. Jen brings a broad skillset to UWR, and is well-versed in all aspects of non-profit governance, management, and operations. As the child of a Foreign Service Officer, she spent much of her childhood living overseas. Following completion of her undergraduate and graduate studies in Virginia and North Carolina, Jen relocated to San Diego, CA, where she spent 15 years as a statistician and predictive modeler in the financial services industry. In 2018, Jen left the corporate world to better utilize her skills in the nonprofit sector. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and Religion, a M.A. in Psychology, a Ph.D. in Social Psychology, and a Nonprofit Management Certificate. Jen has expressed that she is enjoying her return to Virginia. In Jen's words, "United Way of Rockbridge has a long and distinguished history, and I am thrilled and honored to become a part of the team. I’m excited to work closely with other local nonprofits to continue to improve the quality of life for all Rockbridge County residents."
